What Is A Double Merle, You Ask?

A double merle is created when two merle dogs are bred together. It doesn't matter what color merle, or what breed they are, when two merle or spotted dogs are bred together, each puppy in the litter has a 25% chance of being born a double merle. A double merle inherits the merle gene twice. The dogs are mostly white due to two copies of the merle gene which causes the bleaching/marbling effect in their coat. Double merles have a high chance of being deaf, blind, or both due to the lack of hair pigment produced in the inner ear. A lot of times their eyes are underdeveloped as well. Many people refer to them as albino, but that is an entirely inaccurate statement. Double Merles are 100% preventable with proper breeding practices

Two Dogs

Adoption Process

Please read completely

  1.  All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule meet/greets without an approved application. Our Adoption fees START at $300 based on transport fees, medical needs etc...

  2.  We can adopt an animal out of state, but approved adopter must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption.

  3.  We CANNOT place a hold on a dog for you. If you are not ready to adopt, please do not complete an application until you are ready to do so.

  4.  If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventions (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be automatically denied.

  5.  If you do not own the property you live in, you must provide the owner/landlord’s name and phone number, or send a copy of your lease/pet addendum including any breed/size restrictions.

  6.  Please be advised that we reserve the right to conduct a Home Visit if we feel it is necessary before placing an animal with you.

  7.  Please make sure to fully complete your application. Leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. We do our best at processing applications as quickly as possible.

  8.  Once your application is approved, We will call or email you. If you do not respond promptly we will move on to the next applicant.

  9.  We do meet/greets and adoptions the same day. Please be prepared to take the dog home with you.

  10.  Your approved application will be  on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications!

Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.

A Safe Haven for Special Needs Dogs (Double Merle)

Here at White Diamond Double Merle Dane Rescue, We know that we can't change the world, but we can change the world for the dogs we rescue. We are committed to rescuing the underdogs, or the ones who people overlook because they aren't sure how to care for them. The ones breeders don't care that they produced, and would otherwise be euthanized. We are here to provide a safe, and loving home environment for these "special" dogs to decompress, and thrive while we rehabilitate them and ready them for their second chance at life, in a new forever home.
We rescue these dogs from all over the USA. Texas, Utah, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, Colorado, Mississippi, the Carolinas, and Kentucky, just to name a few.
